The Fondazione Giancarla Vollaro was set up in March 1995 at the initiative of Enrico Cuccia and Vincenzo Maranghi in memory of Giancarla Vollaro, who had been Mr Cuccia’s much-valued personal assistant since 1963.
The Foundation, which has capital of approx. €2.6m, was recognized as a company by the Milan Prefect’s Office in 2008, and on 15 April 2009 was included in the register of institutions that perform and promote scientific research established pursuant to the Italian Prime Minister’s Decree published in February of the same year.
The Foundation provides grants to young researchers working on treatments for cancers and cardiovascular diseases.
